  Review by Sexy for Review

Ms. Lee took this reader through the pangs of war, loneliness and despair and the prospect that love and life are possible even when times are at its most desperate. His Soldier was not a tale of feeling sorry but of survival. The ability to always look for the good when life throws you curve balls, and know that someone will be there to pick up you, hold on tight and love you unconditionally. Both Dean and Ryder learned these valuable lessons along the way.His Soldier hit it out of the park.

His Soldier by Anna Lee is a very good story that had me in tears almost from the beginning. His Soldier is a perfect read for a lazy day.  I will also be keeping my eyes open for more by this author.

When you want a military romance with a few twists and turns that you might not expect this is the book to read. The emotion and love will really touch your heart, I know it did mine.

This book threatened to have me bawling a couple times, but I managed to hold it together. Barely. Dean and Ryder were exactly what the other needed when they needed it. Their letters to each other were beautiful and you could feel their connection grow. I was sad when Ryder tried to push Dean away but I understood why he did. The scene where Dean washes Ryder’s leg is beautiful. I loved that there was a true and complete happy ending. Especially one that holds up to my (far too high) expectations.

There were a lot of strong issues dealt with in this book, and maybe as those issues came up there should have been a spot more angst between the two men. Not that I wanted to see them split up or anything silly, but once Ryder and Dean got together it was like they could take on any problem that came their way with sweetness and light. The funny thing is, is that it is those same qualities that make this an awesome book as well. Highly recommended.

His Soldier is just one of those stories where the first page grabs your attention and never lets go. The sad part is reaching the end, although, it's not sad for it is a good ending. It's just sad it ended. Thankfully, the lightness of how this was written made this an incredibly fast read that not only entertained (this is HOT!) but it also makes one think of just how many men and women out there are fighting for our freedoms and yet have no one to talk to or reach out to when the lights go dim.

Two men who have been hurt and lost find each other. They learn to overcome and growing stronger together. Perhaps it was a little sappy in parts, but I don’t care. The writing is top-notch and moves quickly. The MCs are well flushed out and easily connectable to. The sex scenes are more sensual than explicit in my opinion, although pretty descriptive.

All in all, I loved this book. I think this story was awesome and well worth a read.

I loved everything about this story. I loved the fact that we got the back story but we didn’t spend a ton of time on it. After all this is Ryder and Dean’s story. I liked that they spent a year getting to know each other. Before becoming roommates and more, I liked reading the letters back and forth but again I’m super glad the whole book wasn’t filled with them. That actually made me nervous when I first signed up that it would be, so pleasantly surprised. Liked all the extra drama, they had to go through, it’s not just a simple story but lots of extra people making it difficult for these two.  And in the end they stood by each other against the world!

Review by Long and Short Reviews

I really loved this story. Well written and paced, it was a glorious slow build to the climax of Dean and Ryder meeting finally. Thoroughly modern, this nevertheless in many ways reminded me of the old-school style of letter-writing stories I read back in my younger years. This is not a wham-bam-thankyou-ma’am kind of story, but one where our two hero’s interact over a long distance and the intimacy is formed long before either sets eyes on the other. While fraught with potential disaster, I loved how Dean and Ryder formed such a strong emotional attachment before anything physical became a possibility between them. The author did an amazing job to my mind of showing how two men could form such a strong connection over a long distance and very different circumstances. I could feel the growing love and strong emotion tying each man to the other, thread by thread. A heartwarming, strongly emotional and steamily erotic novel, this is a wonderful story I plan to enjoy many times more in the future. The characters are strong and very well drawn, their circumstances natural and relatable. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and plan to look for more by this author. Recommended.

The letters between the two men were so endearing. It was a wonderful way to show how their relationship formed and grew, even though they had never met. In a way, it was even better than meeting in person first because it gave them a chance to get to know each other well, but slowly. By the time they met, they had already established a strong bond which only became stronger. There are a few bumps left in the road, but they were so in tune with each other that they were able to solve them without a great deal of turmoil.
This is a nice story, with wonderful characters, spotlighting the military pen pal program. It's inspired me to want to have my own pen pal. If you like a romance with little stress, lots of passion, and a happy ending, you may enjoy this book.
