Synopsis:
Lady Rose Langley and her mother, Countess Langley, only have each other left in this world because the Earl, Earl Langley, and his eldest son were killed in a carriage accident and the youngest son of the household has gone off to America to make his fortune and find himself.
Countess Langley and Lady Rose Langley have been trying to survive on only hopes and prayers while attempting to maintain the legacy and family history for the youngest son, hoping someday he might return from America.
Lady Rose, while trying to save herself from a horrible scoundrel, Lord Cranwell, meets and falls in love with the Duke of Thorne, Marcus Thorne. The Duke also believes that he is in love with Lady Rose. The only problem is that the Duke is already engaged to someone else!
