Stumbling into Xavier's cabin in the middle of a snowstorm is the perfect mistake Russell's life needs.
Russell Heter takes his best friend Keith up on his offer to take a much needed vacation up in the mountains of Wyoming. Having just obtained his degree in Child Psychology, Russell is due some rest and a big graduation present. After buying an SUV much too big for his small frame, Russell heads off to the mountains, only to have his new vehicle break down in the blinding snow. Trekking through the snow to the cabin, Russell collapses inside and finds himself staring down the barrel of a shotgun, held by Xavier Edmond.
Xavier is the former mayor of Atlanta, released amid controversy when pictures were released of him having an affair…with another man. Xavier escaped to Wyoming in shame. He’s become bitter and closed off, spending his days missing his children and his nights wishing for someone to love. So when the snow prevents Russell from leaving his cabin, Xavier finds himself wondering if Russell might just be the man he’s been waiting for.

Russell Heter leaned forward in his brand new, black Ford Expedition and once again cursed the car salesman who had sold him the car for being so damn good at his job. Russell knew he was too short to be driving such a large vehicle, since, even with the seat adjusted he could still barely touch the pedals. At five seven, he needed to be driving a small car like a Camry, an Accord or, hell, a Miata. He’d agreed with the salesman—the automobile made him feel powerful and tall, two things he’d never actually experienced in his life—but that didn’t mean that purchasing the ‘compensation vehicle’ was the smartest decision he’d ever made. It was possibly the second stupidest decision.
The first one being taking his friend Keith Lovine up on his offer to borrow his cabin in Wyoming for a few weeks. He could only blame his lack of sleep on that idiotic decision. Russell was a city boy, through and through. He’d been born and raised in Dallas, Texas and had attended college at Yale University where he’d finally obtained his master’s degree in child psychology. He’d always wanted children of his own. But when, at the age of thirteen, his parents had caught him and a much older Bobby Lomacs making out behind the barn, he’d accepted the fact that his being gay pretty much nixed any chance he had for having a family of his own. So working with children in any capacity was all the ‘fathering’ he was going to get.
He’d considered briefly being a teacher, but the thought of working with twenty to thirty children at the same time had made him vomit in the waste bucket of his college advisor’s office. Which had been a mortifying experience for him because he’d been all set to try to hit on the older man. He knew that there were those who would say that his attraction to men much older than he was owing to his own ‘daddy issues,’ but he’d grown tired of explaining himself.
How did you get someone to understand about your need for someone with experience? Someone with wisdom and understanding? How did you tell someone that you knew first-hand that older men knew how to fuck like gods while younger men were still about getting themselves off and if their partner got off as well, then that was a bonus? Hell, Russell had dated a man once, thirty years older than his then twenty-one, who had kept him on the razor-thin edge of an orgasm for the length of an entire opera.
He still remembered Shelton fondly and with a smile.
When he’d finally come it had been because Shelton had leaned over, placed his mouth on Russell’s cock and pushed two of his fingers in Russell’s ass. After that, Shelton had pressed on Russell’s prostate. Russell had screamed at the same time the singer on stage had and just as loudly. When he’d come down from the clouds where only good orgasms lived, he’d looked over at Shelton to find him shaking through his own orgasm. They’d both left then, neither of them wanting to face anyone with wet pants or a wet cock, but as soon as they’d entered the limo they’d torn each other’s clothes off and fucked like rabbits all the way home.
A part of Russell still missed Shelton, but he was glad Shelton had reconnected and reunited with his first love, Adam. Still, a good fuck was hard to find.
He sighed as he once again tried to see through the snow coming down in sheets outside his window. He couldn’t believe he was actually doing this. If he could have, he would have turned his car around and headed back toward home. Making sure he stopped to return the ridiculous vehicle he’d bought first.
The large vehicle bumped and rumbled over something and Russell squeaked in fear. He wanted to stop the car and make sure that he hadn’t, in fact, run over someone, but his new ‘compensation vehicle’ chose that moment to splutter and die a horrible death…over fifty feet away from the cabin that he could barely see in the distance.
“Oh for fuck’s sake,” he groaned, slamming his hand against the steering wheel. Turning the key in the ignition back toward him, Russell jerked out his key and bit his lower lip. Now came the tough decision. Did he try to start the car up again or did he put on his big boy pants and trek through the snow to the cabin? The sound of the howling wind outside his door made up his mind for him. Putting the key back into the ignition, Russell turned the key forward, groaning and whining when the engine didn’t even turn over.
“C’mon, you piece of shit!” he screamed. Slamming his hand against the steering wheel again, he allowed himself to have a temper tantrum, kicking his feet and flailing his arms wildly. “Fucking hell!”
Vicktor Alexander “Vic” wrote his first story at the age of ten about his youngest sister and her destruction of the world…with her breath. Vic now enjoys writing about shifters, humanoids, cowboys, firemen, rent boys, fairies, elves, dancers, doctors, Doms, Subs, and anything else that catches his fancy, all sexy men falling in love with each other and having lots of naughty, dirty, man-on-man sex. Already a bestselling author of The Tate Pack Series, Vic has his eyes on the stories that erase the lines of tradition and focus instead on love in all its many forms. A huge fan of the “happily-ever-after” ending, he writes his characters all riding off into the proverbial sunset, sexually satisfied, and in love, all bearing the scars of fighting for that love, just like in real life. No consistent fluff themes here, Vic’s stories can be slightly gritty, dark, and hard hitting, but the reason for that is that, to Vic, love is sweeter when it’s been fought for and won. Never satisfied with only one genre, every book that Vic writes falls into more than one category and has each main character experiencing more than one orgasm, which is something Vic is very used to hearing in his real life.
Out and proud, Vic does not believe that love only comes in one form, one race, one gender, and that not only is gender fluid, but sexuality as well. Vic loves to make people laugh, and when he’s not writing, or rather, procrastinating in writing, he’s reading, playing the Sims 3, hanging out with his very supportive adopted family, or being distracted from his writing by drooling over pictures of John Barrowman, Scott Hoying, Charlie David, and Shemar Moore.
