  Review by Crystal's Many Reviewers

Even though it’s a short story, My Marine has the intensity of a full length novel. Captain Sean Kelley is on tour in Afghanistan and meets a young translator named Akim. Akim sits in on high level clearance interrogations and can’t stop staring at Captain Kelley. Their attraction cannot be denied and they fall into each other’s arms for a one time only thing. Thinking Akim is a local, Kelley feels bad, but vows to find Akim after he is done with his tour and is a regular civilian. It then turns into a wonderfully sweet story about two men who fight their obstacles to be together.

I absolutely adored where this story went and how their love was tested. The authors did a fantastic job of telling the tale of these two men, their jobs, how being a marine played into their relationship, and the secrets they had to keep. My Marine is well written – I enjoyed it a lot.

If you like reading about men who have to struggle to be together, if trying to understand a different culture sounds like an interesting additional hurdle, and if you’re looking for a read with lots of suspense, mystery, and some very hot man-on-man loving, then you will probably enjoy this short story.

For a very short read this packs in a lot of story. It starts in the charged atmosphere of a military base in Afghanistan and the unexpected attraction between an intelligence officer and a local translator. Through some pretty amazing coincidences it ends up in San Diego. I allowed myself to suspend my disbelief and accept that actually in reality such coincidences do happen – and it makes for a very hot, charming and enjoyable story.
