  Review by T. Strange

As someone who is bad with names and faces and loves chickens, I could definitely relate to this story. M.C. Roth’s descriptions are beautiful and evocative and make use of all the senses. They draw you in and make you feel present in the story. The dialogue flows well and is very natural, like listening to a conversation. The story hits all the emotional high and low points—I especially liked the way Trent’s misery was written. (That sounds really mean. It’s ok. He gets a happy ending.) I also really liked the awkwardness after Trent and Ian have a one-night stand (which turns into much more, obviously). I feel like a lot of the time this is just sort of glossed over, but I know that I, for one, would be awkward as hellthe next morning! The title is perfect! If you’re looking for a very steamy story with a lot of drama, The Drumbeat of His Heart is for you!
