They say writing is one of the loneliest of occupations. I have to respectfully disagree. Yes, you’re usually alone when putting pen to paper or fingertips to keyboard, but how can you be alone when you have a whole host of characters in your head to keep you company?

Pride Publishing talks to the authors featured in the Aim High anthology, exploring the stories of men who work in the Air Forces.
What drew you to write for the What’s his Passion? series?
I wanted to explore passion but not in the sexy sense. This imprint gave me the ideal opportunity. My characters have a different kind of passion—to just live a “normal” life, but first they have to deal with pasts that aren’t “normal”.
The world is a funny place. Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, something happens and you see a whole other side of it. Things that once made sense suddenly are as alien and confusing as another planet.

Why did you want to write about hurting to save the one you love?
Because it’s something I would do. I just wanted to apply it to paper to see how it worked out. It was interesting as it threw up many emotions. Hopefully I got them across in the book!
You used to be an editor, so how much has this aided your own writing process?
It helps a lot. I tend to write pretty cleanly, the first draft near enough being the last before submission apart from a final read through. All the rules seem to stick with me as I write, occurring naturally without me having to think about them…
